I'm in a quandary. It's a well-known fact that Pam is not in Florida anymore, yet my blog address says otherwise.
This is the Ocoee River, site of the 1996 Summer Olympics Whitewater Sports. The TVA did not have the water running on this day which is why you can see all the rocks. (I have rafted this river about 4 times, though not since we arrived here... still too cold!).
I can be overly analytical and the fact that you arrived here by clicking on, or typing in, Paminflorida.blogspot. com disturbs me a bit; it just doesn't sit well.
An errant leaf left over from Autumn floats gently down the Ocoee River.
When we began making plans to move to the mountains, I created a new site. It's found at Pamthemountaineer.blogspot.com
Much more fitting, wouldn't you say?
This is Ocoee Lake in Polk County, TN. The river feeds into it. It's just a few miles down the road from us; it's shore, and that of the river, make a beautiful scenic drive.
Having originated in the Northeast and moving to Florida before relocating here, we are classified by the locals as Halfbacks. Half way back from Florida to the Northeast; and there are a lot of us here!!
Another view of the Ocoee Lake, this one taken from the dam.
Therefore, the new blog is aptly titled...
Reflections of a Halfback.
This is the Apalachia Reservoir located just below the Hiwassee Dam. Again, located just a few miles from our house, but in the opposite direction.
But there's a part of me (the emotional part) that doesn't want to abandon the 10,000+ visits and 200+ posts located here on Rest Awhile.
So, what's a girl to do?
Remain faithful here at Rest Awhile where Paminflorida is a misnomer;
Or, move on over to Reflections of a Halfback where Pamthemountaineer is fitting?
Tell me... should I stay or should I go?
This was taken at my bank the same day I took the closeup of the tulips you've seen here previously. Cheerful, aren't they?
All of the scenic water shots were taken about a month ago. You should see how green everything is now... I'll show you eventually!
Pam, I think you can safely stay at the same address.. Pamwasinflorida at one time.
ReplyDeleteMaybe all it will require is some kind of acknowledgment of the move on your page banner??
Great photos!
Your post reminded me of a book that I have MEMORIZED..."But Not The Hippopotomus" by Sandra Boynton. The hippo keeps getting left behind by all the other animals, then at one point, "...Then the animal pack comes scurrying back, saying, 'Hey! Come join the lot of us!' And she just doesn't know; should she stay? Should she go? But YES! the hippopotomus! (but not the armadillo...)" And that's because I live in the world of preschool literature...
ReplyDeleteI completely understand your conundrum. I have no ideas. I wonder if there's someone techie that knows how to do a quick link or transfer stuff to the new blog. The only other thing I have for you is to publish your Florida blog, so you have a tabletop hardcopy, then move on to the new blog. Tricky.
I'll be visiting, no matter what. Love your blogs!
I have answers!
ReplyDeleteActually I was wondering when you were going to start using the 'Reflections of a Half Back' blog when I read this post this morning. So, on your behalf, I did a little digging. You have 2 options that would allow you to drop the Florida and retain your history.
Option #1
Go to Dashboard, Click on settings for the 'PaminFlorida' blog. The first thing you will see in the basic tab is
import - export - delete
This is where you can export your history of posts and comments and import it into 'Reflections' or into another cleverly titled blog.
Options #2
Go to dashboard, click on settings for the 'PaminFlorida' blog. The second tab will be publishing. The first thing you will see is options for a custom domain name...we don't have one so we'll move down to the second item on the list of things we can change here. This gives us the option to change the domain address. This would probably want to be a plan B since blog readers wont be able to find the new blog if they type in the old address. Of course you can give ample notice, blog a few times about changing bookmarks and yada yada yada but who knows how often some of your followers come on and if they'd see it.
Just wanted to throw that out there for you mama. :-) Although, I do like Dots idea of the coffee table book. Blurb.com can import directly from blogspot. How convenient! Talk about autobiography! Or do both. It is pretty cool being able to access the archives and read back in years. I do that in pioneer woman's page.
Hope you get it squared! LOVE YOU!
I could be wrong on this Pam, but I'm pretty sure I changed the url name of my current blog to thearthurclan quite awhile back (it used to be stampinangie or something like that.) You can have the new url name and yet it's still the same blog you've always had (same posts, etc.) It'd be worth a try at least!
ReplyDeleteJust go to "Settings" and then "Publishing" and you can rename your blog url there. You'll just need to let us know what your new url code is. :)
If this doesn't work, just ignore me. Hee!
Thank you, faithful ones!! I'm going to try Kristiina and Angie's suggestions... we'll see how that goes! ;-)
